USB to RS-485 adapter

To use the RS-485 serial communication your computer must have an RS-485 port. We offer a USB to RS-485 adapter with screw terminals for the land side of the UW cable. The DIPs and straps are configured to work with the LogDator. A short cable for direct connection to the LogDator PCB is included, intended for benchtop testing.

USB power (5 V) is provided to the LogDator, for limited operation without batteries installed. For powering a network in the field another power source is required, nominally 9 V DC. We suggest you request a quote if you plan to build a network with more than a few instruments.

Underwater Cable Connector

To use the RS-485 communication in the field you will need a cable with an UW connector in the seaward end (the landward end is connected with screw terminals to the USB-RS485 adapter). If you plan to establish a network with several instruments, you need additional cables between the instruments. Price includes mounting and locking sleeve.
